\nhere we go for another year here on planet earth. 2018 has been, gone and
\npacked its bags never to return, so as we tiptoe
\ninto the year ahead, we look, wonder, and ponder predictions and trends for
\nwhat might be in the vaping industry in this the year 2019\u2026<\/p>\nFreedom to Vape in Public Spaces<\/h2>\n
\nend of last year, a group of likeminded MP\u2019s known as the All-Party Parliamentary
\nGroup for Vaping (APPGV) presented a
\n\tworkplace
\nvaping policy<\/a> to be added to the parliamentary staff handbook
\nwith the aim of encouraging more businesses, workplaces and public spaces to
\nadopt a similar approach. In addition to the vaping policy, the APPGV also
\nencourages vapers to follow an etiquette that essentially respects their fellow
\nworkers.<\/p>\n
\nmore public spaces introducing vaping areas as well as workplaces becoming
\nsavvy to the needs of their workers as they strive to become smoke free.<\/p>\nMore Awareness on the Health Benefits of E Cigarettes<\/h2>\n
\nmore health information in the public spaces and less misinformation from myths
\nabout e cigarettes.<\/p>\n
\nas November 2018 the Advertising Standards Agency amended the
\n\tadvertising
\nrules for e cigarettes
\n\t<\/a> meaning that companies are no longer
\nbanned from advertising the health benefits of vaping, which means more people
\nable to see the positive health implications vaping holds over tobacco.<\/p>\n
\nPublic Health England declared
\n\te cigarettes<\/a> to be up to 95% less harmful than
\nsmoking and that
\n\tvaping
\nhas the potential to help smokers become smoke free<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>however, <\/strong>recent findings that suggest 44% of England\u2019s 6 million smokers
\nare unaware of the health benefits that vaping poses, have spurred Public
\nHealth England to recently sharing a
\n\tshocking new video<\/a>
\n\tdetailing an experiment showing the differences between smoking and vaping.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nexposed to a month\u2019s worth of tobacco smoke and e
\ncig vapour. Unsurprisingly, the cotton wool buds subjected to tobacco
\nwere drenched in thick sticky tar, while the cotton wool buds from the vapour jar were seemingly free of any
\ndiscolouration.<\/p>\n
\nannual campaigns such as Vapril marked significant
\nmilestones in 2018 for the vaping industry as industry members, politicians and
\nhealth professionals alike joined forces
\nto promote the viable route to becoming smoke free that vaping can provide,
\nwhile the NHS\u2019s Stoptober campaign saw e cigarettes and vaping heavily featured
\nas a tool to help smokers stay smoke free for 30 days.<\/p>\n
\ne cigarette advertising restrictions being lifted, we expect 2019\u2019s campaign to
\nonly increase in awareness, giving the general public a fuller understanding of
\nthe benefits of e cigarettes.<\/p>\nAn Increase in the Number of Vapers<\/h2>\n
\nnumber of vapers in the UK rise to an estimated 3.2 million, an increase of 10%
\nfrom 2017 (2.9 million) and a figure four times higher than the number of
\nvapers known in 2012.<\/p>\n
\npotential freedoms to vape in more places in 2019, more advertising from
\ne cigarette companies, as well as a combination of positive cessation campaigns
\nsuch as Vapril and Stoptober, we predict
\nthat
\n\tthe number of vapers in the UK will only increase<\/a> as more people are made
\naware of how much less harmful vaping is compared to e cigarettes.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
