Ever been enjoying your favourite flavour only to reach a point where that flavour you know and love is dulled? Or even worse, you can’t taste it at all anymore? This is called ‘vapers tongue’ (also known as ‘vapers fatigue’).
Not to worry. This effect is not permanent. Read on to learn what causes vapers tongue and you can counteract it.
Dehydration
The average person has between 2000 to 8000 taste buds on their tongue, which have a life cycle of around 2 weeks, before they regenerate, maintaining our ability to taste. Your taste buds need saliva to work properly and if you are vaping regularly this can cause fatigue of the tongue and a dry mouth, meaning your salivary glands are not functioning properly. This can all in turn lead to a feeling like your tongue is coated with something and an inability to distinguish flavour. PG (one of the main components in e-liquid) can lead to a dry mouth as it bonds with the water molecules and draws moisture from your mouth. The simple answer to dehydration causing vapers tongue is to keep hydrated, drinking water between vapes. Overusing One Flavour
We’ve all been there. You’ve found a flavour that you just can’t get enough of and you don’t want to switch. I get it, but in this case, switching out your flavour once in a while can benefit you. Once your tastebuds and your mind get used to a certain flavour, that flavour can start to feel like it is not having the same effect. Nobody wants to vape a tasteless e-liquid, so to counteract this effect, try something new every so often! If you are looking for something new, check out our wide range of ボトルショット, Short Fills, One Shots と 10ml Nic Salt Shots.
Illness
Unfortunately, nobody can escape the common cold. Any combination of sinus issues, a sore throat or a blocked nose can affect your ability to taste properly. Your sense of smell will be dulled, and your airways will be blocked, which means you won’t get the same strong flavour that you are used to. We all wish there was a quick fix for illnesses like the common cold but there isn’t. Don’t panic, your taste will return to normal as you get better.
Other reasons for low flavour
– Steeping: If your e-liquid is not fully steeped, the individual flavours will have not had time to mix with the base of your e-liquid, causing weak flavour. Read more about steeping in our blog here.
– Time for a coil change: Over time, e-liquid can build up on your coils, which can cause dry hits or give you a nasty burnt taste. Switch out your coil often to make sure you are getting the best out of your e-liquid.
